I just heard on a phonecall from my friend John Newgent that he thinks my brother might have been making some unnecessary actions towards his ward (adoptive daughter). Now I don't know what to think. Perhaps it is just John's overactive imagination. He is an ex-con, and he used to be on drugs, so he's got lots of reasons for being overcautious and paranoid. Now that he is taking care of a little girl who is the daughter of his fiancee, he has become very instinctively protective of The girl. Which I can understand. But on the other hand, my brother hasn't been out in the world enough to readily get the idea that perhaps he shouldn't let just any kid, especially kids of close friends, go ahead and sit themselves in his lap all casual-like. I am also protective of the little kid and I wouldn't let any teenager with dirty intentions sully her, not even if said teenager should happen to be my flesh and blood.
John was saying that he would like to beat my brother up, and honestly...for at least ten minutes, if his suspicions are right, I would let him. No brother of mine is going to be a perv hiding behind his folks for protection.
But even if i did let John have at it for a little while...as I said he's an ex-con. They would send him right back to the pen for assault regardless of what anybody said. So I got dad to talk to Curtis about it face to face. I didn't even let Curtis have me explain it to our father. Curtis is legally an adult now, if he is being accused of being a pedophile then it needs to be addressed lickety-split.
